Southbourne School of English / Bournemouth

Southbourne sits between Bournemouth and Christchurch on the South Coast of England. It’s a popular place to relax by the sea. From the beach, there are stunning views of the Isle of Wight, the Jurassic Coast, which is a designated World Heritage site and Sandbanks, one of the most exclusive addresses in Britain. During the summer, the beach comes alive. Students and families are often seen enjoying the warm summer evening on the beach. There are restaurants and activities available all year round and within walking distance or a short bus ride from the school.

Courses

Closed Group Courses

All year round. Open to students of all ages. Group courses can be for a minimum of one week.

Summer Courses

Minimum of one week. Students have 15 one-hour lessons each week, from Monday to Friday. Classes are small, averaging 12 students per class.

Summer Residential Centre

The school runs for four weeks from early July to early August.

Accommodation

Homestay Accommodation with local, police checked host families all within walking distance of the school. Residence Rooms vary from single to multi-bed dormitories. Recently refurbished, the rooms are clean, bright and comfortable and there are plenty of showers and bathrooms. There’s also a weekly light laundry service for students.

Teaching and Lessons

We offer first class education in a welcoming and caring environment. We have top of the range interactive whiteboards in all of our 23 classrooms. We provide a comfortable learning experience for our students as all our rooms have air-conditioning and heating systems and comfortable classroom furniture. Our student cafeteria can seat 110 students and has an internet area with 10 computers. There is excellent free WIFI throughout the school for students with smart phones and tablets. When the weather is good, the garden has plenty of space to enjoy break and lunch time. We have the capacity for 300 students in the winter months and 330 in the summer months.
